Who Are We?

We are the St. Louis Division of Grandmaster Man H. Han’s World Youn Wha Ryu Association; established in the summer of 2000 with our first location in downtown St. Louis by Master Fernando Borrego. We have since instructed thousands of students in homes, churches, schools, recreation centers and ‘Main Street.’

The St. Louis Division is led by Master Fernando Borrego. Master Borrego has had the unique opportunity to train under 2 world class Grandmasters: Grandmaster Jhoon Rhee and Grandmaster Man H. Han. He started at the age of 4 in Tacoma Park Maryland, before continuing his training in Missouri.

Master Borrego is trained in a variety of weapons, including Nunchucks, Hapkido Cane, Bo Staff, Escrima Sticks, knives, Youn Chu (rope) & Kendo. He has also lead courses in Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, Judo & Jiu-Jitsu, as well as Instructor Courses. He also regularly receives invitations to discuss safety awareness & character development for civic groups and corporate events.

Master Borrego enjoys the opportunity to challenge himself and believes the greatest reward is in addressing life’s challenges. He seeks to lead by example, teaching the importance of developing perseverance to maximize life’s opportunities; whether for defense, education, or purposes of meaning. He wholly believes in the importance of discovering and conforming to Jesus Christ, but also in allowing everyone to develop and seek truths through their own pursuits.

Mr. Borrego also serves on the Board of Safe Harbor Hospice and is Chairman of the Physical Arts Foundation. He has a degree in economics and enjoys work in business developments.
